About Three Rock Rovers
Ireland’s most successful EHL side, this season has been one of regeneration with a new look side who recently finished in second place in the EY Hockey League and also won the Leinster Mills Cup.
Daragh Walsh (returning to KHC Leuven) and Ben Walker (Braxgata) were the latest co-opted to play in Belgium while club legend Mitch Darling has retired, ending with three Irish Senior Cup, three EY Champions Trophy and one All-Ireland Club Championship crown to his name.
With Ben McCrea and James Kyriakides moving out of Ireland for work, Elun Hack has seen the panel overhauled. Ali Empey, Andy Keane and Mark Samuel returned from UCD along with Matteo Romoli. Ryan Spencer (Monkstown) has also impressed for a side who have rolled with the changes .
Rovers are Ireland’s most successful EHL side, picking up a first knock-out win for an Irish club in 2019 when they beat Grange before pushing Rot-Weiss Köln in the KO8. But, since then, they have not completed a full season due to Covid, making this a tough ask.
Last October, though, in the Ranking Cup, they lost to HC Minsk and Hampstead & Westminster but have since gelled well and finished the Irish regular season with five successive wins, setting them up for a playoff charge.
