About Surbiton HC (w)
English champions since 2014, Surbiton are looking forward to their second EHL appearance having debuted last October at the Ranking Cup in Hamburg.
Since then, they won the English women’s league, completing their campaign last weekend with a 1-1 draw against Wimbledon, ending with a seven-point margin over second placed Hampstead & Westminster.
The squad features Olympic gold medalist Georgie Twigg and the likes of Emily Defroand, Sarah Evans and Leah Wilkinson along with some excellent young guns.
Sophie Hamilton – since her return from UConn Huskies in the US – has been firing on all cylinders and has earned six senior caps.
Likewise, Darcy Bourne returned to the club after a year at Duke University and has risen into contention with the English national team, particularly when she scored three consecutive hat tricks. She ended as the English league’s top scorer with a stroke last Saturday bringing her tally to 19 goals.
On the move from their last campaign, big names like Hannah Martin (Hurley), Giselle Ansley (HGC) and Holly Pearne-Webb (Wimbledon) have moved on as have Emily Atkinson who retired while Corinne Zanolli moved back to the US.
It will be their seventh European campaign having played in five editions of the EuroHockey Club Cup, finishing in fourth place in 2017.
