Home hosts Harvestehuder THC completed the KO8 line-up for a date with Polo on Sunday (16.30 CET) after they proved too good for Scotland’s Western Wildcats.
Four goals from Michael Körper and a hat trick from 17-year-old Paul Glander were the key instigators with the latter’s pair of penalty corners in the first half setting the tone. Moritz Frey had opened the scoring with a delightful near post touch to Maximilian Schlüter’s backhand cross from the left.
Glander – on his EHL debut – dragged in for 2-0 in the 10th minute while Michael Körper was on hand to turn in his 21st goal in the competition with a close range finish from a turnover ball.
Glander’s second added to the first half scoring while Körper added to his personal tally in the third quarter with a mid-circle push after the ball broke his way. The Wildcats were battling opponents throughout and they came close to getting one back via Andy McConnell’s corner shot, hitting the base of the post.
The hat trick was complete for Glander when he was set free on the right edge of the D and he powered home with a smart shot. Fraser Moran responded in kind to nail a corner for Wildcats soon after, cutting the gap to 6-1.
Körper, though, slammed in two more penalty corners in the closing quarter to put the result further out of reach. Frey ended the scoring in the last minute, finishing off a classy move at the right post.
