Match report
Lisa Nolte’s double saw Düsseldorfer HC became the first side to advance to the FINAL4 of the ABN AMRO EHL as they edged out Surbiton 2-1 in Den Bosch.
In an incredibly even game, her goals were the defining factor between the side, getting the ultimate winner in the 37th minute.
She got on the end of her side’s only corner of the first half, a lovely touch from around the p-spot off a sweep-shot from the top of the circle.
Earlier, Surbiton had hit the post inside the first few minutes when Darcy Bourne’s powerful drag-flick came back off the face of the metalwork.
Femke Jovy also had to be sharp to keep out Ella Mackenzie’s first time deflection from Giselle Ansley’s ball into the circle.
The Londoners did get their goal early in the second half from the penalty spot when Bourne launched her effort into the roof of the net. It came after a push in the back in the circle.
But Nolte’s flick on the run soon after proved the decisive moment in a thrilling contest.
Selin Oruz came close to an insurance goal when her corner rebound flashed off the outside of the post but her side did just enough to stay clear.
