About Real Club de Polo
Real Club de Polo have eased into the new season in confident form, starting with four wins in a row to begin their title defence on the front foot.
Marcos Giralt is the new goalkeeper between the posts following Luis Calzado’s move to SV Kampong this summer, joining the Barcelona club from Taburiente to replace the Spanish number one.
He is among a number of additions this summer made by Ramón Sala including the return of Marc Miralles from Bloemendaal and the signings of internationals Nico Álvarez from RS Tenis and Bruno Ávila from Club Egara.
All three have already scored in their opening wins, Miralles scoring twice in the win over RS Tenis (3-0) while Álvarez and and Ávila were on the mark against Taburiente (8-0).
Japanese Olympian Kentaro Fukuda is another exciting addition.
They join a Polo side with a strong backbone with the likes Guillermo Fortuño, Salva Armenteras, Arnau de Bruijn and Iñaki Zaldua as they look to show off to their home fans at the Eduardo Dualde stadium.
On the departures list, they have seen German stars Teo Hinrichs, Benedikt Schwarzhaupt and Robert Duckscheer while club legend Xavi Lleonart has retired.
This year will be their 16th season in the EHL, making them one of the competition’s most frequent contestants and they are looking to reach the last eight phase for the ninth time, starting with a tough opening date against Calzado and his new Kampong side.
