About Mannheimer HC
German league leaders Mannheimer HC ended the first phase of the season with a five-point gap at the top of the Bundesliga with 11 wins out of 12, picking up 35 out of 36 points on offer.
It puts them in good shape to emulate their run to top the German regular season last term to qualify for the EHL before missing out in the playoffs at the semi-final stage.
Stine Kurz has been to the fore with 11 goals to her name with rising stars Ines Wanner – who joined this season from TSV Mannheim – and Nadine Kanler both netting six times. Aina Lily Kresken is another on the up. Charlotte Gerstenhöfer was one of the stars of the European indoor season, helping the Germans to Championship glory in Prague.
Elsewhere, the side is powered by Lucina von der Heyde who recently declared for Germany having played over 100 times for Argentina.
She dovetails with a further international flavour with Spain’s Clara Badia and Austri’a Fiona Felber also important parts of the panel.
The side is coached this season by Sofie Gierts who took on the job last summer, taking on a side who have done exceptionally well this term following the departures of Julie Pieper (HGC/NL), Charlotte Hendrix (Großflottbeker THGC), Paula Schröder (SC Frankfurt 1880), Alexine Matthysen (Gantoise HC/Belgium) and Lucia Jimenez (Sanse Complutense/Spain).
They compete for a third successive season following silver in 2024 and a seventh place last year.
