About HC ‘s-Hertogenbosch
Reigning champions and hosts, Den Bosch are looking to win the EHL Women’s title for the fourth time.
Indeed, they are, quite simply, one of the greatest club sides put together in hockey history as the stats will attest and they will be looking to use home advantage to full effect at Easter.
Incredibly, Josine Koning, Pien Sanders, Sanne Koolen, Frédérique Matla, Joosje Burg and Maartje Krekelaar all played in the 2015 EuroHockey Women’s Club Champions Cup final as teenagers, showing their experience and longevity at the top of the game.
Eleven years on, the club has now amassed three EHL Women’s titles to add to their 16 EuroHockey Club Cup titles since 2000.
Koning, Sanders, Koolen, Matla and Burg were joined in the Dutch Olympic gold medal winning squad in Paris by Rosa Fernig while Charlotte Englebert is Belgium’s playmaker. Danique van der Veerdonk has since added to their line-up of internationals.
Other than that, their panel is very settled with Kim Peters moving up from their youth section while Valentine Hulsbergen moved to HGC
By their own standards, they had a mixed first half of the season where they ended in fourth place for the winter break in the Hoofdklasse. They subsequently finished as runners-up in the EuroHockey Indoor Club Cup and then started the second phase of the outdoor season with a 2-1 win over big rivals AH&BC Amsterdam.
