About Hamburger Polo Club
The German vice champions last season have been in strong form to date this term, sitting top of the Bundesliga ahead of Uhlenhorst Mülheim and with a game in hand.
It puts them in good shape for the upcoming EHL campaign where they will face Wimbledon in the KO16 on October 9th in Barcelona.
It will be their third EHL campaign as they look to bounce back from the disappointment of missing out on the FINAL8 at the hands of Rotterdam a year ago.
This term, they have an impressive line-up with German star Justus Weigand joining from Mannheimer HC while goalkeeper Joshua Onyekwue Nnaji is another arrival having been the goalkeeper of the year in the Bundesliga when with Crefelder HTC.
Theirs is a squad with plenty of southern hemisphere influence once again with New Zealanders Kane Russell, Sean Findlay and Nic Woods lining up with Australians Tim Brand and Tom Craig.
Brand and Craig helped them to defeat Harvestehuder THC in their derby game, recovering from an early deficit to win out 2-1.
It backed up a healthy 7-0 win over SC Frankfurt 1880 in which new signing Justus Weigand netted twice and a 4-3 win at UHC Hamburg on the opening day of the season.
The one minor blemish on their record so far is a 3-3 draw with TSV Mannheim – albeit they added a shoot-out bonus point – after they succumbed to a late equaliser in normal time.
There is also a healthy Austrian influence with Oliver Binder, Benny Kölbl and Leon Thörnblom in the panel, augmenting German legend Matthias Müller and Paul-Philipp Kaufmann.
