About Gantoise HC (women)
Belgium’s national champions since hockey returned after the Covid-19 break, Gantoise have since won three national titles to be the only club from the country to have played in each EHL Women’s FINAL8 to date.
It led to a fourth place finish in 2022 and then a fifth place outcome in 2023 and they are hoping to land a big result when they come up against SCHC next Easter.
Their panel has a wide variety of experiences with Alix Gerniers, Emilie and Barbara Nelen being three of the Red Panthers’ all-time great players. They are joined by another this season – Michelle Struijk – who joined by Antwerp.
Key will also be ace striker Ambre Ballenghien who has been firing since coming back from injury in the early phases of this season, netting 14 times before Christmas. Hélène Brasseur is another star on the rise while Astrid Bonami lit up the women’s Junior World Cup alongside Noa Schreurs.
They have a nine-point lead in the Ion Hockey League over Braxgata, dropping just three points across their 13 fixtures.
