About Gantoise HC (Women)
Gantoise are hungry for more this season having shown their credentials in a big way last year in the EHL, pushing eventual champions Den Bosch all the way to a shoot-out in the FINAL4 before ultimately landing a bronze medal.
They did relinquish their Belgian crown to Braxgata in the playoffs having topped the regular season table and so they enter this year at the FINAL12 stage. Domestically, Gantoise are leading the way in the league once more with only Dragons in contact at this stage.
Alix Gerniers, Ambre Ballenghien, Hélène Brasseur and the returning Stephane Vanden Borre typify the quality in their ranks, key players in the rise of the Belgian Red Panthers to the world’s elite.
Indeed, Gerniers, Brasseur, the two Vanden Borres (Anne-Sophie being the other) and goalkeeper Pauline de Ryck all link this side to the 2018 vintage where the club played in the EuroHockey Club Challenge II, the fourth tier of European hockey.
That star power is bolstered by a large cohort of rising talent with Alexi Van Remortel and Fee Van Den Abeele chief among them. Irish international Hannah McLoughlin is versatile while German youth international Alexine Matthysen has experience in the competition with Mannheimer HC in the EHL.
