About Braxgata HC
Braxgata are looking to back up last year’s sensational season in which they broke Gantoise’s hold on the Belgian title and became the first club from the country to reach the EHL Women’s GRAND FINAL.
They did so with wins over Club de Campo, Real Club de Polo and Düsseldorfer HC before running out of steam in the decider in the final to Den Bosch.
This season has been a little trickier with six wins out of 14 games to date, sitting a point outside the playoff places.
Theirs is a cosmopolitan side, led by Belgian stars Lien Hillewaert, Camille Belis, Elena Sotgiu and rising talent Louise Dewaet. They are joined by Irish players Róisín Upton and Sarah Hawkshaw who linked up with the club this year following twins Niamh and Michelle Carey, all four of whom previously played with Railway Union.
Italian Ivy Pessina and Scotland’s Heather McEwan bring further international experience.
