About AH&BC Amsterdam
AH&BC Amsterdam will hope they can emulate their last appearance in the EHL Women’s competition when they took ultimate glory with the gold medal at the Wagener Stadium, adding to 14 successes in the EuroHockey Club Cup.
They had a few changes last summer with the marquee signing of German star Sonja Zimmerman while Sosha Benninga (Kampong), Zoë Admiraal (HGC), Filiz Tüzgol (Bloemendaal) and Hester van der Veld (hdm) of the 2022 vintage moving on.
Zimmerman joins a panel loaded with quality like 2022 FIH player of the year Felice Albers, goalkeeper Anne Veenendaal, Freeke Moes, Maria Verschoor, Fiona Morgenstern, Stella van Gils and recent Dutch debutante Fay van der Elst. It follows an outstanding first half to the Hoofdklasse for van der Elst who scored 11 times, 10 from play.
Amsterdam are third in their league table following 12 rounds of matches, sitting just three points off league leaders Den Bosch for the winter break.
