Léo move into Belgian men’s playoff places

Royal Léopold won a vital battle with one of their rivals for a top four spot in Belgium as they won 3-1 at third placed Dragons.

For Dragons, they were shy the services of injured duo Nicolas Della Torre and Victor Foubert but they went in front in the opening seconds through Lucas Martinez.

Léo, however, fought back with Arthur Verdussen equalising from the penalty spot. It was then Nelson Onana who gave the visitors the lead in the 20th minute.

After the break, Dragons fought well but the Brussels team finally put themselves in the clear thanks to Boon. The win lifts Léo into fourth place as Waterloo Ducks fell to a 3-2 loss to Orée to drop out of the playoff spots.

Gantoise remain top of the table thanks to a 5-2 win over Daring. It was a one-sided encounter, even though Manuel Silvetti had opened the scoring for the visitors in the fourth minute.

But the reaction was swift. Guillaume Hellin launched the revolt less than 60 seconds later. Alex Hendrickx gave his team the lead from the penalty spot before Maico Casella made it 3-1 before half-time.

In the second half, Benjamin Marque gave the visitors a little hope from the penalty spot but the joy was short-lived as Hendrickx scored twice from the penalty spot.

Six minutes from the final whistle, Mathis Lauwers sealed the final score from the penalty spot. Ghent still leads the Division of Honor with a 3-point lead over Braxgata.
