Hamburger Polo club off to flying start

Hamburger Polo Club go into the second match weekend of the German Bundesliga season looking to build on their perfect record after impressive results against reigning champions Mannheimer HC and Münchner SC.

They won 4-1 against the latter with a couple of goals from Nic Woods and one each from Tim Brand and Simón Quinders Lopez.

Day two saw them edge out Mannheim 2-1, coming back from a goal down to land the victory.

Brand cancelled out Adrian Rafi’s early goal for 1-1 at half-time and he won the game in the 59th minute with a beautiful corner variation to win the game.

This weekend, they face a derby game against UHC Hamburg on Saturday and then will play again in midweek against Grossflotkbeker TGHC with the chance to go clear at the top on their own.

Polo will have one eye on the EHL where they will come up against SV Arminen in the KO16 in October.

Rot-Weiss Köln dropped their first points of the season on Friday evening with a 4-3 loss against Uhlenhorst Mülheim.

Mannheim are in Hamburg this weekend with a Saturday game against Harvestehuder THC on Saturday and Der Club an der Alster on Sunday. Their EHL plans feature a date with AHTC Wien in the KO16 round.
