Pinoké and Bloemendaal win ABN AMRO Cup

Pinoké’s women and Bloemendaal’s men won the ABN AMRO Cup in Rotterdam on Sunday to take the first trophies of the new Dutch season.

Kari Stam was the hero for Pinoké as she got the feintest of touches to make it 1-0 in the 26th minute of their final against Hurley.

It came from a rare chance in the first half before the game opened up more in the second half; two corners from Pinoké were cleared off the line while Hurley had their moments in the closing phases but they could not convert.

For Pinoké, it saw them earn the Marijke Fleuren Trophy for the first time, a special success as it is their first senior outfield title. They previously won the 2022 indoor national championship.

On the men’s side, Bloemendaal won the equivalent competition with a 4-0 success over Klein Zwitserland in the final.

New Australian striker Nathan Ephraums broke the deadlock in the first 15 minutes for De Mussen and Marc Miralles’s drag-flick gave them an extra buffer. Casper van der Veen added two more to complete the win.

There was something of a new look to Bloemendaal who played without gold medalist Jorrit Croon on Sunday, who is recovering from ankle surgery.

Jasper Brinkman was also absent from the title candidate due to a back injury.

They will meet Real Club de Polo in the KO16 in October.
