Duco Telgenkamp netted a late winner for SV Kampong as they won a big battle against Gantoise 2-1 to advance to the ABN AMRO EHL Men’s FINAL4.
The Dutch side went 1-0 up with just 36 seconds on the clock when Derck de Vilder raced down the right wing and crossed to the middle where Silas Lageman was able to bundle the ball over the line.
Emile Esquelin thought he had equalised with a touch in the middle of the circle but a video review deemed otherwise. The equaliser did arrive when Timothée Clément kept battling to force the ball over the line from close range.
After that, it was a game of tight margins and few chances with both sides struggling to forge the vital opening.
The vital moment came when Rik Sprengers controlled a long overhead on the left baseline and was able to play a lovely one-two with Finn van Bijnen. His cross was perfect for Telgenkamp to get a touch to and edge over the line.
Gantoise threw everything into the last few minutes with the ball flashing across the goal line three times but not going in as David Harte made a huge stop to preserve the result.
