Irish champions Loreto began the second half of their season in storming fashion as they defeated Pegasus 4-2 to make it 11 wins in a row in the EY Hockey League.
Siofra O’Brien did the early damage as she finished off an assist from the baseline from Christina Hamill and then – after half-time – she helped restored the lead when she set up fellow international Sarah Torrans for 2-1.
Torrans fired home a reverse-stick shot to the top corner from a rebound for 3-1 and while Pegasus pulled one back in the second half, Hannah Matthews completed the win with a direct corner strike.
The Dubliners lead the Irish table by 11 points over Railway Union who have a game in hand as they face into a busy period before Easter’s Euro Hockey League.
They have five league games to play between now and their trip to Amsterdam when they come up against Spanish side Junior FC in the FINAL8.
