Mannheimer HC’s women are through to the Final4 of the German indoor championships where they will meet UHC Hamburg in Frankfurt.
The EHL-qualified side eventually saw off the challenge of Rot-Weiss Köln in their quarter-final via a shoot-out after an extremely tight 2-2 draw in normal time.
Rot-Weiss had taken a 2-0 lead through Katharina Reuten and Anna Küskes in the first three minutes. It took until the 25th for Mannheim to get off the mark through Charlotte Hendrix and the equaliser came in the 42nd minute to ultimately send the game to a shoot-out.
There, Hendrix and Fiona Felber scored for MHC to get them over the line. Their next opponent will be UHC who produced a big 7-2 away win over Berliner HC with Charlotte von Bodegom scoring a hat trick.
Harvestehuder THC won via a shoot-out against Zehlendorfer Wasps and reigning champions Düsseldorfer HC edged out Münchner SC 4-3 to reach the semi-finals.
On the men’s side, the 62nd edition of the championship will be a pure north-south affair of Hamburg versus Mannheim, specifically Harvestehuder THC against Mannheimer HC and as Club an der Alster versus TSV Mannheim.
