Den Bosch carry one-point lead into new year

Den Bosch will carry a one-point lead into the new year in the women’s Hoofdklasse as they closed out the first half of the season with a 4-0 away win over Pinoké.

It gives them a narrow edged over second placed SCHC with AH&BC Amsterdam just two points back from them.

For Den Bosch, they stormed by the challenge of Pinoké with Frédérique Matla’s corner push setting them on course. Maartje Krekelaar and Joosje Burg put them out of sight before half-time and then Krekelaar completed the win in the closing quarter.

Things were far tighter for SCHC against Bloemendaal in Bilthoven as they edged home 2-1. Pien Dicke’s scrambled finish got them ahead but it was level when Sterre Bregman equalised in the 33rd minute.

Trijntje Beljaars swept home a corner soon after, however, to get a narrow victory.

Amsterdam, meanwhile, were too strong for Rotterdam with their 8-1 success courtesy of a Fiona Morgenstern hat trick and a double from Fay van der Elst.

The league now goes on hiatus until next March with 10 rounds of matches kicking off with a blockbuster fixture between SCHC and Den Bosch.
