Campo’s women confirm EHL spot for 2024

Club de Campo de Madrid sealed first place in the Spanish women’s Iberdrola League with a clear 5-1 victory at home against CD Terrassa.

The result ensures their participation in the next Euro Hockey League following their silver medal in last Easter’s event.

A goal from María López put Campo ahead, but Nona Vancellis put the tie level at 1-1

However, Eduardo Aguilar’s side did not allow themselves to be surprised and goals from Candela Mejías, twice, Bea Pérez and Inma Sophie Hofmeister rounded off the win.

Before the match, captain Amparo Gil, Carmen Cano and Alicia Magaz, players received a tribute from the club and a commemorative plaque having announced their decisions to retire.

The regular season success has them through to the final four where they will play fourth seeded Club Egara on Saturday morning with Junior FC facing Real Club de Polo.

On the men’s side, Campo will also meet Egara who were the last side to confirm their place in the playoffs with a 2-1 win away against Sanse Complutense.

Egara needed a win to leap-frog Complu but fell behind in the first quarter but goals from Gerard Clapes and Marc Recasens saw them get through.

Atlètic Terrassa will face Polo in the other semi-final.
