Montrouge see off Racing in French men’s final

CA Montrouge took the French men’s title on Sunday to go with the regular season crown as they won a shoot-out against Racing Club de France.

It was a set piece battle with Montrouge taking the lead from a stroke from the season’s top scorer Louis Poupee before Racing levelled at half-time via Thomas Assoignon.

Christophe Peters-Deutz had RCF in front for the first time but a drag-flick from Poupee made it 2-2 at the final whistle.

There, Montrouge won the shoot-out 3-2 to take the French title and the top seeding from their country for next season’s EHL KO16.

Racing also qualify for the KO16 as runners-up thanks to a 4-2 semi-final win over Saint Germain with goals from Celestin Duchesne, Francois Vaysse-Baird, Jean-Laurent Kieffer and Jean Wiart.

On the women’s side, Cambrai came back from a goal down to defeat Saint Germain in the women’s final.

Quitterie Le Naour put the Parisians in front from a corner but Cambrai bounced back with Alizee Isore and Agustina Ariza turning the game around for a 2-1 victory.
