Campo unbeaten run continues to win Copa del Rey over Atlètic

Club de Campo’s men continued their superb form this season to win the Copa del Rey ahead of EHL-bound Atlètic Terrassa, continuing their unbeaten run this season.

They were taken all the way, though, with the title eventually settled in a shoot-out by Quique Gonzalez when he rounded Marc Calzada to slot the winning effort.

Pablo Usoz, Campo coach, said of the success: “I am super happy. We were the two best teams this season in this final. We knew it was going to be a very even final.

“And then, in the shoot outs… it’s luck. You’re going to look for it, but you have to have the luck on the day. For us, it is an award for the entire season we have had, without losing a single game.”

Both had impressed in the semi-finals with Atlètic beating Club Egara 2-0 while Campo were 4-1 winners against FC Barcelona.

The final itself was incredibly tight and ended 0-0 in normal time. That sent it to the shoot-out where eventually Gonzalez provided the game-winning moment for 3-2.
