Bloemendaal continue strong start to 2023

Bloemendaal continued their perfect start to the second half of the campaign with a hard-won victory over Klein Zwitserland, backing up last week’s 5-0 win over Rotterdam in the Dutch men’s Hoofdklasse.

They went in front when Dennis Warmerdam’s attempted shot was impeded, leading to a stroke with Tim Swaen dispatched into the left corner in the third minute,

They withstood plenty of pressure as KZ looked to do a “double” over Bloemendaal having produced a brilliant win in the first meeting between the sides this season.

As such, it stayed 1-0 until the closing quarter when a series of corners eventually led to Swaen whipping one in low for an extra gap between the teams.

With two minutes to go, Tim Brand deflected in a lovely goal but Bloemendaal stayed ahead to record their 10th win of the season.

They remain several points off leaders SV Kampong who picked up another win on Saturday evening when they saw off AH&BC Amsterdam 2-1 thanks to first half goals form Silas Lageman and Jip Janssen.

Pinoké, meanwhile, suffered their second loss since the return to action for the second half of the season with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Rotterdam. The loss sees them drop from third to fourth place.

Jeroen Hertzberger’s 42nd minute penalty corner was all that separated the sides.
