Over 30 World Cup medalists from the past year are in line to play at the EHL FINAL8 following the German men’s success last weekend in India.
German captain Mats Grambusch and shoot-out goalkeeping hero Jean Danneberg are among seven Rot-Weiss Köln to pick up gold with Thies Prinz, Moritz Trompertz, Tom Grambusch, Christopher Rühr and Timur Oruz joined by Hamburger Polo Club’s Matthias Müller and Niklas Bosserhoff on the top step of the podium.
Their final rivals, Belgium, will also be prevalent in April at the Wagener Stadium with host club Pinoké represented by Florent van Aubel, Sebastien Dockier and Alexander Hendrickx providing he works his way back from injury.
Royal Racing Club de Bruxelles’s Cedric Charlier, Victor Wegnez and Tanguy Cosyns, Gantoise’s Antoine Kina, Bloemendaal’s Arthur van Doren and Rot-Weiss’s Vincent Vanasch will all be gunning for glory.
Bloemendaal also provide a half-dozen of bronze medalists from India in Maurits Visser, Thierry Brinkman, Jorrit Croon, Teun Beins, Floris Wortleboer and reserve Dennis Warmerdam.
It adds to the all-star line-up with a wealth of players from the Netherlands golden success at last summer’s women’s event. SCHC provide Laurien Leurink, Xan de Waard, Renee van Laarhoven and Yibbi Jansen while Den Bosch have Sanne Koolen, Pien Sanders, Laura Nunnink, Josine Koning, Joosje Burg and Frédérique Matla all in their squad list.
With Argentina star Agustina Albertario – a silver winner in Terrassa – playing for Düsseldorfer HC this season, it shows the breadth of talent that will be on display at Easter in the world’s best club competition.
