Kampong lead way as Croon scores iconic goal

SV Kampong have taken a seven-point lead into the men’s Hoofdklasse winter break as Terrance Pieters’ 48th minute goal fired them to a 2-1 win over HGC.

It was their 11th win in 12 outings to date and sess them hold a healthy advantage over Bloemendaal with Pinoké 10 points off the pace and Rotterdam fourth, another point back.

Jip Jansen scored his 100th goal for the Utrecht club to put them 1-0 up against HGC before Willem van Campen levelled the game soon after. But Pieters’ winner made sure they add to their healthy lead in the table.

Elsewhere, Jorrit Croon scored an iconic goal for HC Bloemendaal but it was not enough to snag all the points as they drew 3-3 at home at ‘t Kopje.

His aerial juggling skills saw him dance through before volleying brilliantly into the net to make it 3-2 but Den Bosch were not perturbed. They had earlier led 2-0 via Fabian Unterkircher and Timo Boers before Bloemendaal fought back. A Joppe Wolbert goal shared the spoils.

Pinoké won 3-1 against Schaerweijde on Saturday with two goals from Alexander Hendrickx while Rotterdam recorded the same scoreline to defeat HDM.

Jeroen Hertzberger scored twice to make it 400 goals for the club in all competitions – 321 in the Hoofdklasse, 15 in the playoffs, 2 in the Gold Cup and 40 in the EHL.

The competition now goes in a break until March 4.
