SV Arminen have qualified for the EHL for a sixth successive season following their Austrian men’s championship success, prevailing against Post SV in a shoot-out in the final.
In normal time, they went ahead in the 17th minute when Lorenz Klimon made a strong move down the right flank to set up Florian Hackl.
Post equalised in the third quarter courtesy of Daniel Geißler’s rebound and that was how it remained through to the final whistle, sending the game to the shoot-out.
There, Arminen had the edge from the first round with Dominic Uher converting a stroke – following a foul on Sebastien Eitenbgerger – while Benjamin Stanzl was denied from Post’s first effort.
Uher scored from his own shoot-out and his side stayed 2-1 ahead through round three before Robert Campe netted a third for a 3-2 lead after four rounds.
But no goals in the final round of the shoot-out meant Arminen were champions once again and bound for the EHL Men’s KO16 next September.
On the women’s side, NAVAX AHTC won the Austrian title in extra time 2-1 against WAC.
