Düsseldorf, HTHC, Alster and Mannheim have quarter-final advantage

It s advantage Düsseldorf, Harvestehuder THC, Club an der Alster and Mannheimer HC in the German women’s playoffs after the first game of the quarter-final series.

Düsseldorfer HC were the first winners of the weekend when they saw off Berliner HC with a goal in each half. They missed an early stroke but had the lead at the big break when Lisa Nolte picked out top scorer Sara Strauss to score.

Tessa Schubert made the game safe in the third quarter for a 2-0 success.

Harvestehuder THC have the edge after a shoot-out win over Rot-Weiss Köln. Pia Maertens and Laura Saenger shared goals in the first half and it remained 1-1 through to the final whistle.

HTHC held their nerve to prevail 3-2 in the shoot-out with Maren Kiefer scoring the decisive last goal.

Club an der Alster won their Hamburg derby against UHC. Carlotta Sippel put Alster ahead in just the second minute and it was added to by Hannah Gablac before half-time.

UHC made the game lively with ten minutes to go via Sophie Stomps but Alster held on for a 2-1 success.

Mannheimer HC were the big winners in game one with a 3-0 away success against Munich SC. Nadine Kanler opened the scoring froma  corner; Lucina von der Heyde rounded the goalkeeper for the second early in the second half  and Aina Lilly Kresken closed out the win.

The second leg of these quarter-final series will take place on May 28th.
