Royal Racing Club de Bruxelles ended an 81-year wait last weekend as they got the best of Gantoise over two legs in the Belgian men’s championships ifnal.
Saturday saw the two sides draw 2-2 in the first leg, leaving the title going down to a straight shoot-out in the second meeting of the weekend.
Arthur de Borrekens gave the Ghent club the lead but Tanguy Cosyns levelled it up at half-time at 1-1.
Racing took that momentum into the second half with Cosyns scoring from a penalty corner and he completed his hat trick with another stroke for 3-1.
De Borrekens reduced the gap with his second of the game but Craig Fulton’s sides stood firm to secure the crown and end their long wait for glory.
