Sanse Complutense won just the third Spanish women’s title in their history as they beat Madrid city rivals Club de Campo in a final shoot-out.
Campo had impressed in Saturday’s semi-final, beating EHL BRONZE medal winners Junior FC 4-0 while Complutense were victors against Real Club de Polo in a shoot-out.
The final was a repeat meeting from their last success back in 2015/16, beating the same rival. In normal time, they went in front via Pilar Campoy’s goal in the 14th minute.
Blanca Pérez levelled in Q2 and Campo had the half-time lead courtesy of Lucia Abajo but Complutense bounced back with nine minutes to go for 2-2.
In the shoot-out, Jorge Donoso’s team won out 3-1 to score a famous victory.
