Den Bosch confirmed as women’s Hoofdklasse regular season winners

Den Bosch confirmed they will top the women’s regular season table in the Hoofdklasse as they got the best of HGC 3-1 at Oosterplas.

Frédérique Matla got the first, recovering after her first shot was saved to slam the ball into the roof of the goal, her 34th in 21 league games.

Maartje Krekelaar slapped in a second in the second half and while Sophie Schaltmann pulled one back, Lidewij Welten’s reverse-stick shot slipped through the grip of the HGC goalkeeper to confirm the win.

It keeps them five points clear of SCHC who were 3-1 winners over Oranje-Rood with Yibbi Jansen scoring a hat trick.

AH&BC Amsterdam and HDM will also be in the playoffs. Amsterdam were 4-1 victors over Victoria with Fay van der Elst getting a pair of goals while HDM beat Bloemendaal 2-1 with Tessa Beetsma with both of their goals.

Those top four placings cannot change in the final round of fixtures.

On the men’s side, Bloemendaal remain the runaway leaders of the Hoofdklasse with a 6-3 success against AH&BC Amsterdam with Thierry Brinkman scoring a hat trick.

Pinoké confirmed their place in the top four with a 3-0 win over HC Rotterdam with Amsterdam pretty much there too.

Most of the excitement on the final day of the regular season will be in the battle for the playoff places. HGC landed a massive 4-3 win over SV Kampong, building a 3-0 lead in the first half hour which they ultimately held onto for the points.

Oranje-Rood beat Hurley 3-2 to move into fourth place ahead of HGC while Kampong dropped from fourth to sixth.

On the final day, Oranje-Rood will go to Bloemendaal while HGC – level with them on 38 points – facing already relegated Hurley. Kampong are a point back on 37 and need a favour along with a win over Pinoké if they are to have a chance of extending their season.
