Mannheim the autumn leaders in women’s Bundesliga

Mannheimer HC closed out the first half of the women’s Bundesliga season with two big away wins over the weekend.

They saw off TuS Lichterfelde 5-0 on Saturday with Nadine Kanler scoring twice in the success and she was on the mark again a day later when they beat Berliner HC 3-1.

She got the insurance goal in the 55th minute after her side initially trailed to an effort from Carlotta Pahlke but Merle Sophie Knobloch and Stine Kurz swapped the lead around in Mannheim’s favour.

The result leaves them with 28 points from their 10 games played so far, putting them five points clear at the top of Section B.

Düsseldorfer HC top Section A with 25 points from 11 games after a mixed weekend which saw them fall 3-1 to Rot-Weiss Köln on Saturday before bouncing back with a 7-0 success against Uhlenhorst Mülheim. Sophia Schwabe scored a hat trick in that latter game.

Club an der Alster have the third best record with 23 points and Harvestehuder THC are going well with 22 from 11 games.

The league now goes on hiatus until April as indoor hockey takes centre-stage.
