Düsseldorfer HC women secured the German League Cup in Krefeld, defeating Mannheimer HC 2-1 in the final with Tessa Schubert scoring the winning goal.

In a fast paced game, Mannheim originally took the lead when Paula Schröder brought the ball into the circle and picked out the well-positioned Isabella Schmidt to make it 1-0.

For DHC, it was the first deficit in this tournament, having earlier beaten Harvestehuder THC 6-3 in the first round and then eliminating Munich SC 4-0.

In the second quarter, they upped their game with Lisa Schneider making several key interventions while DHC had three corners leading up to half-time meaning it remained 1-0 at the break.

After the restart, Düsseldorf picked up where it left off before the break with Harvestehuder THC standing firm in defence but the equaliser did come in the final minute of the third quarter.

Theresa Schönert simply took the ball from the 23-metre line into the circle and Julia Drechshage was on hand to make it 1-1.

Inspired by the goal, Düsseldorf continued pushing on and they grabbed the winner from Schubert after strong preparatory work by Lisa Nolte. For Mannheim, it was their first two goals conceded in the tournament.
