Beeston to broadcast all home games via terrestrial English television next season

All of Beeston Hockey Club’s men’s and women’s England Hockey Premier Division home games next season will be broadcast on terrestrial, free-to-air television via Notts TV in what the club is hailing as a first for domestic hockey in England.

Notts TV is a British commercial local television channel which broadcasts to the City of Nottingham and the surrounding areas. Notts TV launched in May 2014 and broadcasts on Freeview channel 7 and Virgin 159 in England.

It follows the success of the club’s live streaming on social media via Bee TV since 2018.

Euro Hockey League commentator Nick Irvine was a regular in the commentary box for the 2018/19 season along with Andy Day who has gone on to commentate on FIH Pro League hockey matches on BT Sport.  Former team coach Steve Musson – pictured at the EHL KO16 in 2012 – has been on board to provide his insight and analysis.

David Griffiths, Beeston’s Deputy Chairman, commented: “For us, this is a moment of vindication, that our hard work to introduce regular live coverage of men’s and women’s Premier Division hockey, has clearly paid off. It’s exactly what players of such a high standard deserve and we’ll continue to work hard to make our coverage as exciting as possible.”

Owen Shipton, Notts TV’s Head of Output, said: “Beeston Hockey Club deserves great credit for the role it plays in the development of the sport locally and nationally.

“This partnership means our viewers will get to see coverage of top-flight action and Olympic-level athletes for free, and reflects our ambition to bring the best of Notts sport to as big an audience as possible.”

Beeston’s men finished in sixth place in the English Premier Division last season while the women ended in eighth place.
