A huge double weekend in the men’s Hoofdklasse sees the top two side face off on Sunday with HC Bloemendaal coming up against Rotterdam.
Bloemendaal lead the way off the back of their handy 4-0 win over Almere with Roel Bovendeert bringing his total to ten goals this season with a double while Tim Swaen scored another couple of penalty corners.
Rotterdam are three points behind them after they beat Klein Zwitserland 4-1 with Jeroen Hertzberger adding another two goals to his career tally. He is now on 258, sixth on the all-time goalsorers list.
It sets up their big showdown on Sunday on day two of a weekend of potential fireworks,
Saturday sees AH&BC Amsterdam host HGC while HC Oranje-Rood meet Bloemendaal in Eindhoven. Kampong, meanwhile, go to Almere before coming up against Oranje-Rood at the Klapperboom on Sunday.
For the Utrecht side, they come in off the back of a dramatic 4-3 win over Amsterdam in which stand-in goalkeeper David Wolff impressed in the absence of the injured David Harte.
They fell behind 2-0 inside the first four minutes but they bounced back to lead 4-2 with 17 minutes to go with Jip Janssen scoring twice.
The women’s Hoofdklasse has one round of matches in its regular Sunday slot with many of the big guns at home. Joint leaders Den Bosch host HGC while SCHC face Kampong in a local derby.
Amsterdam come up against third placed Pinoke with Oranje-Rood are up against Victoria.
