Egara and Atletic lead way in Spanish men’s league while three sides top women’s table

Club Egara and Atletic Terrassa lead the way in the Spanish men’s Honor Division on seven points after three rounds of matches to date.

Egara – who will play in the EHL Men FINAL8 next Easter – were 3-2 winners over Junior FC as they built a 2-0 advantage courtesy of Pere Divorra and Josep Romeu’s first corner goal of the day.

Gaby Dabanch pulled one back in the 44th minute but Romeu’s second put Egara out of range, rendering Dabanch’s 66th minute strike a consolation.

Atleti also won 3-2, seeing off FC Barcelona. Lluis Mele, Pepe Cunill and Santi Ibanez goals had them 3-1 up and they held on for the points despite Martin Gebhardt’s last minute goal for Barcelona.

Real Club de Polo overcame their slow start to the season as they landed a 3-1 win over CD Terrassa, bouncing back after two league losses and their exit from the EHL. David Alegre scored twice in the victory with Xavi Lleonart getting the other.

In the women’s competition, Club de Campo, Polo and Junior FC all have two wins out of two at this early stage in the league.

Campo beat Atletic Terrassa 5-0 with Laura Barrios scoring a hat trick with Lucia Abajo and Begona Garcia getting the other goals.

Polo were 3-0 winners over CH Sardinero, their strikes coming from Georgina Forns, Xantal Gine and Marlies Verbruggen.

Junior, meanwhile, beat CD Terrassa off the back of two goals from Gigi Oliva with Mariona Serrahima completing the 3-0 win in the last minute.
