UHC`s ladies`captain Janne Müller-Wieland nominated for the -Young Player of the Year Award 2008-.




The 22 year old defense player who started playing hockey in the UHC at the age of 6 and was a member of the German Olympic Squad in Bejing, is on the list of the 5 U 23 players who were suggested by the other Olympic participants for the award which is going to be presented at the end of November in Los Angeles.
She was a member of the various junior national teams between 2002 and 2007, becoming European Champion twice ( U 16 in Rotterdam in 2002 and U 21 in Catania in 2006) and runner-up in the U 21 World Championship in Santiago de Chile . In her first matches in the Ladies` national team , coach Michi Behrmann tried her out as a forward but just before the Olympics she returned to her accustomed defense position. Beijing was a fantastic experience in all respects and she loved every minute of it ? except for the losses!
In the spirited and successful young club team of the UHC ladies? team she plays centre defense and enjoys playing with her younger sister Roda who has just won the German U 18 Championship with the UHC.
Janne studies business and administration and after 2 years at Düsseldorf university recently changed to Hamburg university to do her final year and bachelor exam here.
