Dream debut for Racing’s Campuzano

Racing Club de France have established a
five-point lead over the rest of the French league after just three rounds of
matches thanks to a hard fought 1-0 win over Wattignies.
Racing were without Celestin Duschesne
(hamstring), Antoine Ferec (knee) and Simon Martin-Brisac (tibia) but boosted
by Spaniard Eduardo Campuzano for his first game in the Ciel et Blanc jersey.
They found Wattignies hard to break down,
missing out from five first half penalty cornes as the northern French club sat
deep and defended in numbers.
They kept the scoreboard blank until eight
minutes from the end as Nicolas Martin-Brisac and Jean-Laurent Kieffer with
Campuzano pushing home from mid-circle for a debut winner.
It earned a third win from three games to see
them lead the way on nine points. Elsewhere, there were plenty of surprises.
Le Touquet beat Lille 3-2 with the return of
French international Aristide Coisne a key factor after two weeks of
suspension. It was also his birthday, adding to the occasion.
The game was very tight and tough. Lille scored
their two goals on from corners but Le Touquet replied with goals from Belgian
player Henri Cavenaille and two from Aimeric Baudoin.
Montrouge beat Saint Germain 2-1, a real
surprise with Montrouge employing a very young team this year. After a
scoreless first half, Montrouge broke the deadlock in the third quarter and
doubled the lead in the fourth. Saint Germain scored by Gregoire Samson from a
corner but too late to affect the result.
Paris Jean Bouin and Lyon, the two promoted
sides to the elite division, played out a spectacular 4-4 draw. PJB started
well, building a 3-1 half-time lead with two goals from Fabien Magner.
But Lyon came back from nowhere with a beautiful
goal from Gaspard Baumgarten and a penalty stroke from Stephane Panigoni
helping them swap the lead before PJB equalised just before the end.Racing sit top on nine points with Saint Germain, Lyon, Le Touquet, CA Montrouge and Lille all sitting on four points after three weeks.
