Club biography

Wimbledon return to the Euro Hockey League for a second outing following their back-to-back victories in the English playoffs, beating Reading to the 2016 crown in a shoot-out.

They have Olympic experience in the form of Henry Weir, Ian Sloan and Michael Hoare along with the arrival of Simon Mantell from Reading – their marquee signing. With James Bailey and Phil Roper (who started the season playing in the New Zealand Hockey League), there is plenty of international experience.

Alistair Brogdon has moved on to Rotterdam following a highly successful spell with the club but they have brought in Scottish internationals Gareth Hall and Gordon McIntyre from Beeston while Ben Tibble arrived from Surbiton.

Last year, they pushed Amsterdam all the way in the KO16, taking an early lead before bowing out in their one EHL game to date and they will be hoping for a strong run this time around. It’s another tough one, though, facing UHC Hamburg.
