Club biography

Wimbledon became the first English club to reach the FINAL4 since Reading in 2011, becoming just the second club from the country to do so in the 10 seasons of the EHL.

Phil Roper was their man to watch with a pair of breathtaking displays in the defeats of UHC Hamburg and Mannheimer HC. Midfielder Ian Sloan has been named the England captain for the upcoming months and there is plenty of international experience in the form of Henry Weir, Ian Sloan and Michael Hoare along Spaniard Borja Llorens who has been a huge addition this season.

Simon Mantell was part of the Reading side that reached the FINAL4 in 2011 and showed his quality in Eindhoven in his first season with Wimbledon.

They topped the regular season table in England to ensure a return to the EHL next season but missed out on the playoff title in dramatic style, giving up a 3-0 lead against Surbiton in the final before losing out in a shoot-out.

They have had a significant gap since that tie, their last competitive match in April, which has posed some logistical issues heading into their FINAL4 date with HC Oranje-Rood. But they have bouyed by Sloan and Roper being named co-captains of the English and Great Britain teams and they helped the side to win the Sultan Azlan Shah trophy last month.
