Club biography

The Euro Hockey League's most successful side – UHC Hamburg – are looking to bounce back from what was a rare low-key season in the competition, falling in the KO16 to Rot Weiss Köln in 2016.
The German side have reached the final on five previous occasions, winning three times, an incredible achievement given they have never won the German national title.
They have a large number of changes to their panel this year. Florian Fuchs is the big departure, moving to Bloemendaal for the 2016/17 campaign. Jonas Fuerste and Dominic Giskes have both retired while Pilt Arnold (to TC 1899 Blau Weiss Berlin) and Philipp Witte also move on.
Coming back to the club are Jonas Swiatek from Pinoké while Julius Schmid comes in from Blau Weiss Berlin. They join a panel with Olympic bronze medalists Moritz Fuerste and Nicolas Jacobi while Oliver Korn was a reserve for the panel, showing their quality.
With a very young panel, they eased through ROUND1 in Banbridge with a 12-1 win over SC Amsicora and a 3-1 success against Cardiff & Met. They play Wimbledon in the KO16.
