Club biography

After two slightly curtailed runs in the Euro Hockey League, SV Kampong produced a sublime run to the title last season, sweeping past Racing Club de France, Rot Weiss Koln and Atletic Terrassa, scoring 16 goals and conceding just three. It set up a maiden final date with Amsterdam in which they duly prevailed 2-0 with Bjorn Kellerman and Rob Kemperman in exquisite form with Constantijn Jonker wrapping up the win.

Spanish star Ramon Alegre retired in the wake of last year’s glorious EHL success. Their big signing for this season was another Spaniard in the form of Salva Piera, a powerful defender with a strong drag-flick option if required. Jasper Luijkx has also joined the club from Den Bosch.

Kai de Jager, from the OZ women, came in as assistant coach in place of Roderick Weusthof to work with Alexander Cox. Key for them once again will be goalkeeper David Harte, Ireland's captain, along with Martijn Havenga, Erik Bouwens, Sander de Wijn and Quirijn Caspers.

Their title defence begins with a third meeeting against Rot-Weiss Köln.
