Club biography

As German regular season champions, Mannheimer will return to the Euro Hockey League for a second appearance, their first coming in the 2010/11 season.

Then, they topped their group with wins over Glenanne and Grunwald Poznan but were knocked out in the KO16 by Atletic Terrassa in a shoot-out. They will hope to do better against Spanish opposition this time around when they play Club Egara.

They have made the marquee signing of the world’s deadliest drag-flicker, the Olympic Games top scorer Gonzalo Peillat, who helped Argentina to gold in Rio. He joins compatriot Guido Barreiros in their panel.

He adds to their corner battery alongside Danny Nguyen, Czech sweeper Tomas Prochazka, USA’s Patrick Harris and South Africa’s Rhett Halkett. Goalkeeper Andreas Spack is another with international quality. On the flip side, Philipp Collot retired last summer.
